Imagine…
moving through your life
feeling greater awareness
in your body and mind,
noticing where and when

you are holding tension,
releasing unnecessary effort,
enjoying more energy and ease as a result.
Welcome to the world of Trager!

The Trager approach is a deeply relaxing practice that can provide physical and mental relief, increase range of motion and fluidity of movement, and bring a sense of the nervous system being lulled into a state of peaceful presence. Using gentle, movement-based bodywork and awareness practices, this approach invite us to explore the question: “What could be easier?” and to practice listening to the wisdom our body already knows.

Sessions begin by establishing a foundation of comfort, safety, and support, creating a calm and collaborative environment for the session to unfold. Various techniques of elongating, stroking, bouncing, and rocking body movements are used to explore where there is freedom or restriction in the body. The goal of each session isn’t to fix or force any change to happen, but rather to hold the questions, “What could be easier? Softer? Freer?” and then observe and feel the shifts that occur. Working in this way, the Trager approach can help to release unconscious patterns that may have been useful, protective responses to the demands of daily life, injury or trauma, but which have become blocks to experiencing free movement, ease and pleasure. Introducing and practicing new, freer movement patterns with playful curiosity while in a relaxed, receptive state can have a profound effect on energy and vitality, leaving you feeling more enlivened, grounded, and connected.

Trager sessions are designed to be both extremely pleasant and effective. The effects are both cumulative and accelerate with each visit. Sessions usually include an interview, assessment, and movement. Clients wear loose clothing that is easy to move in, or can be unclothed down to their underwear. No lotions or oils are used. At the end of a session, individualized movement suggestions may be offered to expand upon and extend the positive effects of the work.
